Why is it that players that are older tend to be better at their instruments than players that are younger? Give 2 examples and you cannot use this answer "because they have been playing longer."

The older player tend to have a better feel for there instrument and how it plays, they also are more acustumed to the diffrent speeds and rythms of the notes and compositions

The older people know all the notes and know how to play it perfect. The younger ones might just be learning some notes, or mayby they placticed that song for a long time.

Well, first of all they have more experience
with there instruments and they have
probably had all types of different complexed
pieces so their pretty good with the
music. And secondly they've more than
likel performed in front of a huge croud more
than a dozen times so they probably dont have
stage fright and they dont mess up
because of it.

1. They probably played in more concerts and had a long time to learn from all there mistakes.
2. They're more concentrated and focused.

They understand music more and try to put themselves into it. Another reason is that they may have more time to practice.

I think the reason that older players ar better at playing on their instrument is because they have a bigger lung capacity then younger players.

Another reason is that they are more familiar with their instruments and how to play them.

I think that if they have been playing it for a longer time it shows that they are very passionate about their instrument, so they will want to do better. Also, kids go to school, do homework and play, while adults might go to work and play their instrument the rest of the time.

Because usually when you are older you have more challenging pieces which make you better because as you practice them you get better, like last year we played kind of easy songs and this year they are more challenging. Also because they could have more experience.

I think that the older people tend to be better because they know their correct poster for their instrument, and know what's coming up on their music, so that they can look at the conductor for timing, dynamics, tempo, etc.

Usually when the player is older they're not being forced to play, it's what they want to do and enjoy. Another reason is that maybe the player now knows how to focus on certain tasks such as practicing, because i remember when i first started play piano I could not focus on practice for more then 5 minutes but progressively I learned how to sit down and practice.

Older players are often better than younger players because they have had more time for the muscles in their mouths to strengthen and for the reflexes in their hands to develop, or because they have had more opportunities to work with lots of kinds of music and lots of kinds of musicians and teachers

I think that older players tend to be better because they have been given more advice than younger players have. They also have taken more classes and private lessons than a younger player. Older players would have experienced more performances than someone who was younger.

The older players play better than the younger players because they probably see playing in the band as a lifestyle rather than a hobby or a credit. They probably take it more seriously than the younger players. They play more often and practice more.

hmmmmmm...... well it depends on how skillfull they are cuz the young boy you posted earlier played like the old people. i'd have to say its because they practiced longer and they must be better players than the young people.

I think that adults tend to be better at their instruments because when your older you have the choice to play. If you choose to play you are more likely to work harder at excelling in that instrument than a student that just needs to get their art credits it. Also adults are able to join more groups because it might fit into their schedule which would allow them to get more playing time in.

(1.They can probably hold their breath longer
(2.It's easier for them because they are used to sixteenth notes better than we do.
(3.They have a bigger body than us.

Why older players are usally better at their instrument is because since they haved played longer they have devloped better air control and they're more experienced they propally have played much harder pieces.

they tend to be more focused than younger people and they tend to be more concentrated on the music and the counting

The obvious reason is the one you have already told us: that they have been playing longer and are more fimiliar with their instruments. There are many other reasons why older groups tend to be better at their instruments. I think it may be because of their dedication. We, as teens, are playing just for now; in the moment. We may not continue playing in the future after junior high or high school. They however, know what they want and truly love playing and practicing. They are more passionate about playing thier instruments than we are. Also, younger players are less mature and more likely to be distracted easily or may fool around a lot. I also think that adults have a longer attention span.

I think people that have played instruments longer tend to have a larger range of notes they can play, and they pay better attention to articulation and dynamic changes.

Older musicians tend to be better than younger musicians because they have more experience with their instrument, they know how to control their instrument better from years of practice, and because they have been instructed and taught more than younger musicians. Also, if someone is still playing an instrument when they are an adult, which means they are passionate about it and probably practice a lot. Lastly, the most talented conductors and teachers seem to conduct groups of adult musicians, therefore giving them better instructions and lessons.

I THOUGHT THAT THE OLDER PEOPLE PAYED BETTER THAN THE YOUNGER PPEOPLE BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTAND THE MUSIC BETTER THAN THE YOUNGER PEOPLE AND THEY NOW THERE INSTURMENTS BETTER THAT=N THE YOUNGER PEOPLE.

becuase maybe becuase they study more and want to be professionals while some kids dont like to study so they dont know much stuff. and maybe the older people can store more information in there brain rather than little kids maybe?

Well i think that adults are more pacient and look through the music more carefully. They could also have more time on their hands to practice, or they might WANT to practice more.

they take there music more serious and they know there notes better. They are older so they can most likly hold there breath and notes longer to play better.

one reson they have more lung capacity because they are older wich meansthey can play longer without takeing big breaths.

second reason is that thay are more experienced and they know moe stuff from there higher band classes.

I think older people play better because they've had more time to get their hand-eye coordination up, and just because they've had soooo much more time to play and practice their notes. They've already done all of the stuff we have; they're just... yeah. You get it. =P Liked the performance, by the way. ^_^

One reason older people tend to play better is that they tend to take their music more seriously than younger people. They take their time to practice and don't mess around at rehearsals. They also might have listened to more music played and they can learn stuff to make themselves better by watching more performances.

Players that are older tend to be better at their instruments than players that are younger because, they probly have more commitment to practicing and playing their instrument(s), they pay better attention to the people around them and the condutor, and they are probly more open to peoples opinions or questions about their performance and if it were a younger person they might take offense to something like that and not play aswell as the older performers.

-Mark G.

because they have practice for a far longer time
and they are also more expirienced with their instruments therefore they sound better

They have learned to control their lung capacity, and can take very big breaths, so they play longer. Also, the bigger you are, the better balanced you are, so you have better tone. For instance, a 20 year old & a 5 year old that have both been playing for the same amount of time will not play the same. The 20 year old is bigger, so they will have more control of their sound.

-dylan m.

Anonymous said...

I think its because they have more expierience so they have developed a good sound.I also think its because they can perform more challenging tasks than SOME younger people so they master how to play.

They have more talent. They have more air, because they have been playing longer. And they have more expensive instruments.

Cody Wagner

.....and it says im missing the 4th listening assingments when i did it.

Anonymous said...

1)they have way more experience than the younger players
2)the older players have played in way more concerts so they just play with out being nervous

I think that those who are older are better at their instrument because they have experienced the kinks and know how to fix it quickly for that nice sound. Also I think that they have read various types of music and know how to play that piece with a specific type of emotion. (:(:

Of course it isn't just 'because they've been playing longer' It's also because they've found out what they enjoy playing, which helps them play better, and they've found better techniques for getting right notes and rythems, changing dynamics, and counting. Also, as people mature, they tend to obtain more patience and can count rests easier when they have long measures of rest.

-Jacob H.

Maybe because they are exposed to more musical background than younger people are and because they probably take the time out to practice than most younger people would

They know how to practice better, and are more disciplined.

Jonathan B.

i think that one reason that older people tend to be better at their instrument because they are more responsible. this responsibility helps players buckle down and practice when they have to. another reason an older player tends to be better is because older players seem to have more discipline and are more mature so they forget a lot of their personal things that younger players don't, like school and gossip. this discipline helps them keep focused on their music and play right things.

Reason 1 - When you grow your fingers get longer =P

Reason 2 - I believe when you're older you tend to comprehend and catch on faster, therefore you get better.

They are more developed and are used to thier instruments, they have formed a little to thier instrument over the time they have played. They have most likely played different types of music and have a wider range in music. The older people who play instruments have learned the older techniques so they have learned more over time so they know what works and what doens't.

two reasons why older people
tend to be better at instruments
than younger kids is because ...

1) for wind instruments in particular, older people have more air. they can manipulate their keys with better access and know whats suits them and adjusts to it.
2) hopefully, as older people, they are more mature. their practices must be smooth, short and very productive compare to a band room full of noisy students. (;
